Vabalands: Week 1 of 8: Create the next hit in 8 weeks?

Wow.. (takes a deep breath)

As you may recall from my previous post, I started an 8-week project to develop a demo for my game. I promised to drop regular updates. So, week one, here we go.

How it was supposed to go:

Write basic scripts for my game: movement, combat. Design my game character in inkscape, Rig and animate in Unity.

How it went:

After writing movement script, I decided to design the game character and create basic animations first as I wanted to integrate my combat logic with Unity's animation events and behavior. Hence, I opened my Inkscape software.

The catch: I'm a newbie to Inkscape. In my last game, all assets I used were free online assets. I was in new terrain. After extensive searching for appropriate learning materials and toying around with Inkscape, I ended up creating my first inkscape vector art: a flat looking funny character.

After a couple days of more design,I present to you a glimpse of the 'starting' avatar for Kairon Vale, the protagonist of my game.

I'll be working on animating the character next and then designing combat

Of course, I'll love to hear your comments, feedback and inputs.

Stay tuned.
